Arcturos is a non-governmental and non-profit environmental organization founded in 1992 to protect the wildlife and the natural environment through field research, scientific study, public awareness, environmental education and voluntary work.
The operation of Arcturos Environmental Centre in the prefecture of Florina has solved the problem of captive bears and wolves and has raised public awareness of large mammals. The center also focuses on the reproduction of the Greek collie. The dogs are given for free to farmers in mountain areas, an act that teaches everyone about the harmonious coexistence of man and wildlife.
